FDA Asks Hackers to Expose Holes in Medical Devices, But Many Researchers Fear CFAA and Jail

However, she points out, hackers are so severely prosecuted and punished in the U.S. that those who might investigate and patch the security of devices such as insulin pumps are afraid for their freedom and careers.
