FDA Issues Heart Warning Linked to Imodium Overdose
The FDA is warning of potentially fatal heart problems resulting from taking higher than recommended doses of the prescription and OTC diarrhea medicine Imodium.
These heart problems, including abnormal heart rhythms, could also be increased when taking high doses of Imodium with other medicines that interact with the drug, the agency says.
The FDA added that it will continue to evaluate this safety issue and will determine if additional actions are needed.
