Mississippi Sues Drugmakers Over Reimbursement for Unapproved Drugs
Mississippi’s attorney general is suing six drug firms for allegedly defrauding the state Medicaid program by supplying ineligible drugs.
The lawsuit seeks damages and an injunction against Barr Laboratories, Barr Pharmaceuticals, Copley Pharmaceuticals, Goldline Laboratories, Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, and Teva Womens Health.
The complaint alleges the companies were aware their products were not eligible for reimbursement through Medicaid, in violation of the state’s Consumer Protection and Medicaid Fraud Control Acts.
The state intends to recoup more than $7 million lost in the alleged scheme.
