FDA Clears CMS’ Autosegmentation Software

CMS has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its new Atlas-Based Autosegmentation (ABAS) product.

Reducing the amount of time spent creating and editing patient contours, the software produces an estimate of the anatomy boundary contours needed to create a radiation treatment plan, CMS said.

The product is compatible with any radiation treatment planning system that can read standard DICOM RT structure set files. It also provides algorithms for head, neck and prostate treatments in addition to a general algorithm that allows it to be used with other treatment sites.
