Expert: Industry Should Invest in Minimally Invasive Technologies

As minimally invasive surgical techniques are gaining momentum and beginning to disrupt the market, analysts say the time for devicemakers to invest in the technology is now. “Even though it’s still in its infancy, once it gets a strong foothold, the tipping point could be drastic,” Perry De Fazio, an analyst for Nerac, said. This “tipping point” for the widespread use of such procedures is largely dependent on rapid development and advancements in visualization, articulation and tissue-sealing technologies.
