FDA Not Setting Any More Deadlines for Social Media Guidance

Signaling struggles with its development, the FDA has stopped publically saying when it hopes to release guidance on social media and internet marketing. The stance is a departure from the agency’s position after setting self-imposed deadlines — and then missing them — on issuing guidance by the end of last year and then the end of the first quarter. “I can’t project when I think these guidances will come out,” said Barbara Chong, group leader of the arm of the Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising, and Communication (DDMAC) that is heading up the guidance.
