March 8, 2012
Two Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce health subcommittee crossed the aisle to join Republicans in approving legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). The 15-member committee was created by the 2010 Affordable Care Act and is opposed by industry. Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. (N.J.) and Edolphus Towns (N.Y.) joined a united GOP Feb. 29 in voting 17–5 to approve the Medicare Decisions Accountability Act of 2011, H.R. 452.
