Social Media Policy Should Obey Real-World Standards

Companies drafting a social media policy in anticipation of upcoming FDA guidance should try to follow the same general guidelines used for traditional marketing materials, experts advise. Devicemakers should consider who’s developing the content, where it’s being placed and whether it abides by all traditional rules, said Lauren Silvis, a partner with Sidley Austin, speaking at the Food & Drug Law Institute’s March 5 device compliance and litigation conference in Washington, D.C.
