Medtronic to Bring 150 New Jobs to Puerto Rico

December 19, 2013

Medtronic is expanding its presence in Puerto Rico, with plans to invest $6 million and create 150 new jobs over the next three years, an island business group says.

According to the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company, the medtech giant will add 100 jobs at its Juncos manufacturing plant, which produces a sensor that monitors subcutaneous glucose concentrations, and another 50 jobs at Humacao, where the company makes a device for anterior cervical interbody fusion in skeletally mature patients with cervical disc disease.

The Minnesota devicemaker has had operations in Puerto Rico for 40 years, with locations at Juncos, Humacao and Villalba. Medtronic could not be reached for comment by press time. —Lena Freund
