Eisai Seats Execs on New Supply Chain Security Board

February 12, 2014

Eisai has created a board made up of top executives and employees from quality, production, legal and other departments that will provide strategic leadership on ways to combat criminal counterfeiters and diverters of the company’s drug products, the company said Wednesday.

The Product Security Executive Board will be headed by Eisai’s U.S.-based global product security director.

Eisai also works with international law enforcement, global regulatory agencies and other pharmaceutical companies via the Pharmaceutical Security Institute, the Permanent Forum on International Pharmaceutical Crime and the Pharmaceutical Industry Initiative to Combat Crime.

Including top brass in pharma supply chain security programs is an increasing phenomenon as the industry becomes more globalized. Drugmakers are also taking action by mapping their networks of suppliers to better assess their risks from cargo theft and prioritize mitigation. — Lena Freund
