RTI Surgical Launches Streamline OCT System

April 21, 2014

Florida’s RTI Surgical is launching its Streamline OCT spinal fusion system in the U.S. after receiving 510(k) clearance last month, the company said Monday.

The system — used to treat spinal stenosis, tumors, degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis — creates rigid construct in the occipito-cervico-thoracic spine through a range of implants, allowing surgeons to tailor treatment to individual patients.

Streamline features a high-angle pedicle screw that gives 60-degree angulation in any direction, a friction fit screw head for greater control, rod-to-rod and head-to-head crosslink options, two novel lateral offset connectors and a customizable occipital plate system with four, five or six holes that reduces the need for extreme rod bends. The plate also offers standard and split-tip screw options, which make room for tip expansion after the screw is seated, according to RTI. — Lena Freund
