Surgical Theater Secures $9 Million in Financing for Image Guidance Software

October 20, 2015

Surgical Theater has secured $9 million in financing for its virtual reality and image guidance software.

According to the Cleveland, Ohio-based company, neurosurgeons can use the platform to virtually walk inside a patient’s anatomy in real time.

They can see the inside of the brain through the small craniotomy opening to explore perspectives of the pathology and vital structures of the brain.

“Surgical Theater’s virtual reality and image guidance also extends into the operating room, coupled with intra-operative navigation systems we are providing dynamic visualization capabilities in real time, allowing surgeons to perform a real-time ‘fly through’ of the surgical pathway, establish multiple views, rotate and interact with the navigation image,” CEO and co-founder Moty Avisar said. — Michael Cipriano
