Lack of Sterility Assurance Sparks Abbott's Compounding Pharmacy Recall

Jan. 26, 2016

Abbott's Compounding Pharmacy is voluntarily recalling all of its unexpired lots of sterile compounded products.

The recalled products — which include injectable medications, sterile solutions, eye drops and eye ointments — were distributed in California between Jan. 1, 2015, and Jan. 14, 2016. The company is recalling the products over a lack of sterility assurance.

Abbott says it has not received any reports of adverse effects or injuries. It has notified customers to immediately stop using the recalled product and contact the pharmacy to return any unused product. Read the recall notice here:www.fdanews.com/01-19-16-AbbottCompoundingRecall.pdf.
