Avantis Medical’s Third Eye Panoramic Scores FDA Clearance

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance to Avantis Medical Systems’ disposable Third Eye Panoramic for use in colonoscopies, the San Jose, Calif.-based company announced Monday.

The device, used in insertion and withdrawal phases, is attached to the tip of the colonoscope and   includes two side-viewing cameras to produce a “panoramic” view.

The company is currently assessing strategic partnerships and intends to launch the product as a multi-use device. — Anisa Jibrell
