St. Jude Medical Halts Nanostim Implants Over Battery Issues

Nov. 1, 2016

St. Jude Medical has halted the implantation of its Nanostim leadless pacemaker due to reports of battery-related problems with electronic data reporting.

The company acted after receiving seven reports of “lost telemetry and pacing output.” The company said there have been no reports of patient injuries associated with the malfunction.

The notice comes on the heels of an Oct. 25 recall by St. Jude Medical over separate battery issues associated with this product line. — Cynthia Jessup
