International Forum Seeks to Promote Drug Supply Chain Security

An international forum of experts has developed best practices for quality and supply chain security for medical products.

Based on a multi-year initiative involving APEC, the FDA and the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, APEC’s Roadmap for Supply Chain Security project has developed a set of tools for supply chain security.

The Roadmap has endorsed two pilot programs on supply chain security, one sponsored by the USP and the other by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. In addition, APEC’s Center of Excellence (Coe) programs are developing training on various aspects supply chain security.

APEC will maintain a supply chain security toolkit at the APEC Harmonization Center website.
