FORMER FDA CHIEF COUNSEL TROY JOINS LAW FIRM

January 11, 2005

Former FDA Chief Counsel Daniel Troy has accepted a position with law firm Sidley Austin Brown.

Troy, who resigned from the FDA in November 2004, will be a member of the firm's life sciences practice, as well its appellate litigation group. He will be based at Sidley's Washington, D.C., office, but will also work in the firm's New York location, Sidley said in a recent announcement.

In addition to providing strategic counseling on FDA-related matters, Troy will practice administrative and constitutional law and litigation, with particular focus on the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, medical device, cosmetic and media industries, the firm said.

Coleen Klasmeier, Troy's special assistant at the FDA, is also joining Sidley's life sciences practice.
