BRITISH COMPANY BUYING APTAMERA FOR $21.4 MILLION

Aptamera, a three-year-old Louisville biotechnology company that is working to develop anticancer drugs, has agreed to be acquired by Antisoma, a biotechnology firm based in the UK. The agreement calls for Aptamera's shareholders to receive up to 66.5 million ordinary shares of Antisoma, or roughly 20 percent of the company's total shares, in exchange for all outstanding shares of Aptamera. According to a news release, the stock transaction is valued at approximately $21.4 million.
