SWEDEN'S ELEKTA TO BUY IMPAC FOR $190 MILLION

Elekta of Sweden has said it would acquire Nasdaq-listed IMPAC Medical for $24 a share in cash, equating to an enterprise value of $190 million, a premium of 22 percent on the U.S. group's last closing price. The deal brings together a leading medical-technology group, specializing in equipment for diagnosing and treating cancer and brain disorders, with a provider of oncology management software. On a diluted equity basis, the deal values the U.S. group at $250 million.
