U.K. Biotech Import Lands Funding

Privately held biotech company Sciona Inc. has closed on its third round of financing, its first since relocating from the United Kingdom to Boulder earlier this year. The company raised $8.2 million. Burrill and Company was the lead investor; Prelude Trust, BASF Venture Capital Gmbh and Bioventures Inc. also contributed. Jim Bruce, president and CEO, said the proceeds would be used in part to fund research and development.
