Alcon Gains Approval for Cataract Lens

Fort Worth, Texas-based Alcon has won government approval for the latest generation of its intraocular lens for cataract patients, the company announced. The new AcrySof lens marks a significant technological leap and aims to eliminate patients' need for reading glasses after cataract surgery. In clinical studies, 80 percent of lens recipients were able to forgo glasses altogether.
