WIRELESS DEVICES FORECAST AS A TOP EMERGING TECHNOLOGY

Jan. 12, 2006

Wireless devices have been identified as the top emerging technology in a half of all hospitals surveyed, the Chicago-based Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society said recently.

In 2000, total healthcare spending in Western European countries approached $3000 per capita, while in the U.S., per capita spending exceeded $4000. In an industry financially stretched by aging populations, opportunity exists for a proven technology to reduce operating costs and improve capacity and quality of service, analysts say.

Research and Markets has announced the report, "Mobile Healthcare -- Opportunities & Strategies for Wireless Technologies & Applications," to address this issue. The report offers an examination of the use of mobile and wireless technologies in healthcare throughout Western Europe and North America.
