Groups Asked to Submit Proposals for AIDS, TB, Malaria Funding

April 2, 2007

South Africa's National AIDS Council, in its capacity as the country coordinator for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria, has called on organizations to submit proposals for the seventh round of funding.

The Global Fund is a financial instrument designed to complement existing programs that address HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria through multisectoral partnerships. The call for proposals is being made to civil societies, nongovernmental organizations, faith-based organizations and private-sector businesses.

The proposals should be aimed at reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS on young children and providing treatment and care to address the needs of children with HIV/AIDS. The pediatric focus is based on the country's recently announced national strategic plan.

Proposals must be submitted by April 26. For more information see www.doh.gov.za/docs/proposals-f.html ( http://www.doh.gov.za/docs/proposals-f.html ).
