CMS: Companies Should Register Early for DMEPOS Bidding

April 11, 2007

Companies should begin the initial registration process to participate in Medicare's durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) competitive bidding program, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) said.

Interested suppliers are to submit their bids using an internet application, the agency said. Suppliers must complete initial registration in the internet application to get a user ID and password; however, the ID and password cannot be used before the bidding window opens.

Bidding is currently scheduled to open late this month, the CMS said (FDAnews Device Daily Bulletin, April 10) ( http://www.fdanews.com/dailies/device/3_71/news/68383-1.html ). It recommended suppliers register "well before the bid window opens" to avoid a delay in being able to submit bids. "Suppliers need to complete this initial registration process early," it said.
