The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has rejected millions of dollars in medical device imports over the past three years, in an effort to prevent substandard products entering the country, an SFDA official says. Saleh Al Tayyar, vice executive president for the SFDA’s medical devices sector, said the agency has denied entry to more than US $23 million in devices and in vitro diagnostics, more than half of which were destroyed due to “improper storage during shipment.”
