FDA Reviewing Arthroscopic Shavers
The FDA is conducting an ongoing safety review of arthroscopic shavers used in orthopedic procedures after receiving reports that pieces of tissue were found in the surgical devices following the cleaning process. Because retained tissue in the devices can compromise the sterilization process, the agency is actively working with the manufacturers of these devices to gather more data, the FDA says in a statement.
