Pfizer Wins Viagra Patent Dispute in Canadian Federal Court
Novopharm won’t be allowed to sell a generic version of Pfizer’s erectile dysfunction treatment Viagra until after the drug’s patent expires, according to a decision by the Federal Court of Canada. Judge Michael Kelen says the Canadian Minister of Health is prohibited from approving Novopharm’s generic Viagra (sildenafil citrate) 25-, 50- and 100-mg tablets until the ’446 patent expires in 2014, according to a 54-page ruling.
