Bristol Ignores California Over AIDS Drug Price Flap (Pharmalot)
Ed Silverman comments on efforts by California groups and officials urging Bristol-Myers Squibb to reduce the cost of Reyataz, an AIDS drug, since state drug-assistance programs are hurting financially. California Controller John Chiang wrote to Bristol’s CEO explaining the tight budget problems, saying while he did not begrudge the company its profits, he hoped it would join other companies that have found ways to reduce drug costs in the state. Bristol did not initially respond but told Silverman that it will get back to Chiang and is committed to the drug-assistance programs.
