Teva Launches Generic Version of Antidepressant Effexor XR
Teva has begun shipping its generic version of Wyeth’s antidepressant Effexor XR after the FDA approved the company’s ANDA, and the world’s largest generic-drug maker also was awarded 180-day marketing exclusivity. Wyeth, now part of Pfizer, has been embroiled in patent litigation with many companies seeking to market Effexor XR (venlafaxine extended-release) generics. Teva is the first company to launch under a 2006 agreement with Wyeth.
