US FDA Wants to Toughen Stance on Using Old Predicate Devices

Amid calls from devicemakers to improve its policies on predicate devices and promises from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to do so, the agency is beginning to clarify changes that may be in the works as part of an overhaul of its 510(k) clearance program.
