Malaysia to Require Registration of All Medical Devices Starting in November
Devicemakers doing business in Malaysia must register their products, beginning in November, a Medical Devices Control Division (MDCD) official confirmed. Manufacturers and importers who fail to register their devices before November 2014 will face a maximum penalty of about $63,000, three years imprisonment or both. A website is under development for manufacturers to register their products online and for patients and retailers to check if devices are banned or not registered with the government.
