Grassley Lists Laws FDA Allegedly Broke in Email Monitoring Spree
A key Republican lawmaker is calling for more thorough government probes into the FDA’s monitoring of nine of its scientists as new information shows the agency may have broken more laws than congressional investigators previously believed. In fresh letters to the HHS Office of the Inspector General and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) cites the Stored Communications Act as another law the FDA may have violated as it moved to “retaliate” against staffers who reported device safety concerns to Congress and the OSC. Six of the staffers are suing the agency.
