Reports of Opioid Overfills Continue to Bedevil Hospira, Prompting Fresh Recall
Hospira is recalling another lot of hydromorphone HCl injection after receiving fresh reports of overfills in the syringe-based drug delivery system. The Schedule II substance comes in a prefilled glass cartridge for use with the 2.5-mL carpuject device. But the affected product reportedly contains more than the 1-mL labeled fill volume. No adverse events have been reported due to overfills of the affected lot, which was distributed between March and May, Hospira said late Wednesday.
