Report Alleges Medtronic Paid Doctors to Minimize Risks of InFuse Bone Graft
A 16-month Senate Finance Committee investigation of Medtronic revealed dubious ties with researchers and behind-the-scenes efforts to ensure medical journals portrayed the company’s InFuse bone graft favorably, according to a report released Wednesday. Sens. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) initiated the inquiry in June 2011, following reports that doctors investigating InFuse did not report dangerous adverse events in patients who received the device.
