Transport Capacity Issues Inhibit Drug Exports to Latin America
U.S. manufacturers looking to import their drugs to Latin America are finding that the greatest challenges are capacity-related, as more narrow-bodied aircraft are now flying south, an expert says. The influx of narrow-bodied aircraft comes as the cost of fuel forces airlines to consolidate their fleets and as the need for newer vaccines and biologics with more packaging is creating volume deficiencies, panelists said during a Sept. 27 session of the International Quality and Productivity Center’s Cold Chain and Temperature Management forum here.
