Applied Digital announced that VeriChip, its wholly owned subsidiary, has completed the acquisition of eXI Wireless of Vancouver, B.C., and will now offer RFID products through a complete array of implantable and external RFID products for people in the healthcare and security environment. Xenomics, a developer of next-generation medical DNA technologies, has filed a provisional patent in Italy for its technology enabling the detection of Transrenal-DNA of HIV and tuberculosis through the safe and non-invasive process of urine sampling. Biophan Technologies, a developer of next-generation biomedical technology, has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will issue on April 5 two new patents involving proprietary developments that enable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of heart activity and advance the manufacture of nanoparticle coatings for medical devices. Dade Behring has initiated a product recall of six lots of B1015-14 MicroScan Rapid Pos inoculum broth to prevent health risk to patients due to potential false antibiotic susceptibility results. BioMerieux, a company in the field of in vitro diagnostics for medical and industrial applications, announced that its BacT/ALERT 3D Microbial Detection System will play an integral role in a single donor platelet technology system. STAAR Surgical announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell 4.1 million shares of newly issued common stock at a purchase price of $3.50 per share to certain institutional investors. Recom Managed Systems announced the completion of private placement financing of $5 million with an institutional investor at $3.20 per share, with no commissions or other fees payable. Siemens Medical Solutions USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, and CTI Molecular Imaging announced that Siemens Medical Solutions, through its wholly owned subsidiary MI Merger, has commenced a previously announced tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of common stock of CTI Molecular Imaging for $20.50 per share, net to the seller in cash. VWR International announced the acquisition of Advanced Instruments Sales & Service, a San Juan, Puerto Rico-based supplier of a broad range of services, instrumentation, equipment and consumables to the Puerto Rican pharmaceutical, biochemical and scientific markets. Protein Polymer Technologies reported that a small group of institutional and accredited investors committed $4,200,330 for the purchase of an aggregate of 12,728,269 shares of the company's common stock together with warrants for the purchase of an aggregate of approximately 6,364,132 shares of common stock. GeneOhm Sciences, a company dealing in molecular diagnostics, announced that the company closed follow-on Series C funding with Partners HealthCare System. INCOGEN has announced that the company has successfully met their first-year milestones and received the remaining $1.2 million of a two-year, $2 Million award from the NIH National Cancer Institute to continue its research program in cancer diagnostics. GenWay Biotech announced they have entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Beckman Coulter. |
