CMS Proposes Expanding Coverage for PET Scans
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed last week to expand national coverage determination for initial diagnostic testing with positron emission tomography (PET) for patients undergoing cancer treatment. However, the expansion would not extend to patients with melanoma or breast and prostate cancer. CMS will take comments on the proposal until Feb. 5.
