ECHA Proposes Restrictions on DEHP, Other Chemicals
EU device manufacturers that use di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) may need authorization to continue using it if it is included in Annex XIV of the REACH (registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals) regulation. Under a European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) proposal published last month, DEHP and six other chemicals would make up the initial list of substances subject to REACH authorization. The substances would be barred from use in most cases 42–48 months after being added to Annex XIV.
