Drugmakers to Pay $2.3 Billion in Annual Fees in Baucus Healthcare Plan
Drugmakers would have to pay annual fees of $2.3 billion starting in 2010 under the latest healthcare overhaul plan proposed by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.). The fees, which would be allocated by market share, are part of an $80 billion agreement PhRMA negotiated with Baucus earlier this year, Ken Johnson, senior vice president at PhRMA, said.
