Boston Scientific Will Settle Guidant Defibrillator Case
Boston Scientific agreed to a $296 million settlement with the Justice Department last week over charges related to Guidant’s handling of defective
cardiac devices in 2005. As part of the settlement, Guidant, which was bought by Boston Scientific in 2006, will plead guilty to two misdemeanors related
to failure to alert the public about electrical flaws in some of its heart defibrillators.
