Boston Scientific Settles Claims of Guidant Device Kickbacks
Boston Scientific
will pay $22 million to settle a Justice Department investigation into allegations that its Guidant subsidiary paid kickbacks to physicians who implanted
its pacemakers and defibrillators in postmarket studies. The company also has entered into a five-year corporate integrity agreement with
the HHS Office of Inspector General, which requires the company’s cardiac rhythm management division to publicly disclose its payments to physicians
on a website beginning June 30, 2011.
