Massachusetts Election Could Kill $2 Billion Annual Device Tax
Devicemakers
are guardedly optimistic that they won’t have to pay a $2 billion annual device tax included in both the House and Senate healthcare
bills after Republican Scott Brown won a special Senate election last week in Massachusetts. “It’s hard to say which direction it’s going
to go,” John Edwards, president of the Southeastern Medical Device Association, said. “Hopefully, it’s a chance to start over and come
up with something that won’t demonize the device industry.”
