German Court Rules for Edwards in Patent Dispute
The German Federal Patent Court has ruled in favor
of Edwards Lifesciences, finding Cook’s patent for a transcatheter heart valve is
invalid. Last week’s ruling follows a ruling last year in the district court in Dusseldorf, Germany, that determined Edwards did not infringe Cook’s
patent, Edwards says. Cook filed suit in Germany in February 2008, claiming that Edwards’ Sapien transcatheter heart valve infringed its patent.
