More Heparin Lots Recalled, Supplier Cited by FDA in the Past
B. Braun Medical has announced a nationwide recall of seven lots of heparin, after its supplier — who has been cited by the FDA for similar violations — notified it of potential contamination. The recall was prompted following testing by its supplier, Scientific Protein Laboratories, that indicated a trace amount of oversulfated chondroitin sulfate. Based on current information, the recalled lots do not pose a significant health risk, B. Braun said, adding no reports of adverse events have been reported. The company said it initiated the voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
