FDA Warns Providers About Syringes, IV Systems
The FDA has issued a safety alert for certain needleless, pre-filled glass syringes that have demonstrated compatibility problems with some IV access systems. The syringes may break, malfunction or become clogged while being connected to IV systems, the agency says. Most reported problems have involved adenosine-filled syringes, with problems occurring when attempting to connect them to pin-activated, needleless IV access systems.
