St. Jude Triumphs in Lawsuit Over Competition Laws
Volcano Corp. must pay St. Jude subsidiary LightLab $400,000 after it violated competition laws in Massachusetts, a Superior Court ruling says. The ruling finds that Volcano Corp. acquired its subsidiary Axsun Technologies in 2008 as a means of “impeding the growth of a major competitor.” Volcano orchestrated a scheme to have Axsun supply LightLab with a less effective laser, which would “adversely affect the marketability” of LightLab’s optical coherence tomography imaging system, violating the state’s unfair competition laws, the decision says.
