Merck Developing New Kind of Insomnia Drug
Merck has spent eight years developing a sleeping pill that works differently from existing medicines — without sedating the body. The proposed drug is known as suvorexant and if Merck succeeds in getting it approved by federal regulators, it will be one of the first new treatments for insomnia in more than 30 years.
