U.S. Triples Fake Drug Take With Help From Industry, Regulators
The U.S. government confiscated more than $16.8 million in counterfeit pharmaceuticals in 2011, nearly three times the value of fake drugs seized a year earlier. This lofty increase is attributable, in part, to increased collaboration among drugmakers and foreign governments, Thomas Kubic, president and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Security Institute and a former FBI deputy assistant director, told WDL. “It’s been really impressive.”
