Sponsors conducting trials of orphan products could get some financial support from the government, thanks to an announced $14.1 million in fiscal 2014 federal grants. Foreign and domestic, public, private, for-profit and nonprofit entities, including state and local governments and federal agencies that are not a part of HHS, are eligible for the grants, according to the FDA’s Aug. 6 Federal Register notice.
