Molex Buys ProTek Medical
Announcing its acquisition of ProTek Medical on Tuesday, Irish devicemaker Molex said the Coralville, Iowa, company will continue to operate as a subsidiary.
The acquisition enables Molex to bolster its medical device design, manufacturing and testing capabilities, says Tim Ruff, a senior vice president for Molex. ProTek shows demonstrated strength in cleanroom injection molding and assembly, contains an extensive metrology lab and has much-needed quality and regulatory expertise.
ProTek’s portfolio includes cardiac rhythm management components and infusion finished and vascular delivery devices.
Molex owns 50 manufacturing plants across 17 countries, operating as an indirect subsidiary of Koch Industries. — Jason Scott
